Local artist Ray Rolston repaid Key West High school students’ volunteer work in a unique way — with art. Students from the Key West High School Police Explorers and NJROTC assisted the Key West artist with set up and tear down at the ART! Key West Black Friday Art Sale.
Rolston did not want the hard work to go unrewarded.
“I tried to tip them and they told me because they were there as volunteers representing these fine programs they could not accept,” said Rolston. “I know from talking to them these clubs are very important to them and help them stay a part of the community so I asked if they could accept donations to theirclubs for fundraising and Officer Deglys Chavarria said that was allowed. I felt that these students exemplify what is great about living in the Keys and I wanted them to know their hard work was appreciated.”
